The production process of PVC coated PVDC film involves several steps, which are described below:
Substrate Preparation: The first step in the production of PVC coated PVDC film is substrate preparation. The substrate is typically a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film, which is cleaned and treated to ensure that it is free of contaminants and has a smooth surface.
PVDC Coating: Once the substrate has been prepared, it is coated with polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) using a solvent-based process. PVDC is a thermoplastic resin that is known for its excellent barrier properties against oxygen and water vapor.
Drying: After the PVDC coating has been applied to the substrate, the film is dried in a controlled environment to remove any solvent and to ensure that the PVDC layer is properly bonded to the PVC substrate.
PVC Coating: Once the PVDC layer has been dried and bonded to the PVC substrate, the film is coated with a layer of PVC using a similar solvent-based process. The PVC layer provides additional mechanical strength and protection to the PVDC layer.
Drying and Calendering: After the PVC coating has been applied, the film is again dried to remove any solvent and to ensure that the PVC layer is properly bonded to the PVDC layer. The film is then passed through a series of rollers called a calender to smooth out any wrinkles or imperfections in the film.
Winding: The final step in the production of PVC coated PVDC film is winding. The film is wound into rolls of various sizes, depending on the intended use of the film.
Overall, the production process of PVC coated PVDC film involves several steps, including substrate preparation, PVDC coating, drying, PVC coating, drying and calendering, and winding. The resulting film has excellent barrier properties against oxygen and water vapor, making it ideal for a wide range of packaging applications.
